Adding to his already mounting legal woes, Lucifer and Coraline creator Neil Gaiman is being sued amid his sexual abuse scandal.

According to People, a former nanny of Gaiman and his estranged wife, Amanda Palmer, filed the lawsuit. The nanny, identified as Scarlett Pavlovich, claimed that her former employer had sexually abused, assaulted, raped, and coerced her.
In her lawsuit, Pavlovich accused Gaiman of sexual violence on multiple occasions while she was working for Gaiman and Palmer in New Zealand. She stated that she met Palmer, also named in the lawsuit, in Auckland in 2020 when she was 22. They became “acquaintances,” and Pavlovich says she would sometimes visit Palmer’s house on Waiheke Island and help around the residence.
However, things took a turn between Pavlovich, Palmer, and Gaiman in 2022. Pavlovich accused Gaiman of raping her for the first time in February 2022. She was then asked to babysit Gaiman and Palmer’s son in Wahikeke. She then endured multiple acts of sexual violence while working for the soon-to-be-exes.
Along with the sexual assault, Pavlovich stated she didn’t get paid for her services. She finally received payment after she no longer worked for the couple. She accused Palmer of “knowingly” recruiting her to come to Waiheke to obtain her “uncompensated labor.” Pavlovich was described as an “economic hostage to Palmer and Gaiman.”
The lawsuit further stated that Gaiman’s alleged behavior was “intended to coerce sexual services and free childcare” from Pavlovich. The couple alleged did this by causing Pavlovich to believe she did not perform such labor or service. She then would suffer harm or physical restraint.

Meanwhile, the complaint alleged that Palmer “recklessly disregarded” that Pavlovich was “forced to endure commercial sex acts committed by Gaiman.”
“Palmer was sufficiently aware that Gaiman was likely to target Scarlett,” the complaint reads. “That she warned Gaiman to stay away from Scarlett before she brought Scarlett to Gaiman’s house as a babysitter. Yet Palmer never warned Scarlett of the known danger posed by Gaiman. Had Palmer warned Scarlett of the known danger posed by Gaiman, Scarlett would never have agreed to babysit Palmer’s child at Gaiman’s house.”
Pavlovich is now seeking damages that are to be determined at trial. The complaint further stated that the damages are “reasonably believed” to be $1 million.
“Including, without limitation, damages to physical well-being, emotional and psychological damages, past and future economic losses, past and future physical impairment damages,” the lawsuit pointed out. “Including but not limited to PTSD, anxiety, and depression, which are physical impairments of the brain, loss of career opportunities, together with punitive damages, plus prejudgment interest, attorneys’ fees, expenses, costs, and disbursements.”
Last summer, British podcast Master published six episodes of five women who made sexual assault allegations against Gaiman. Pavlovich detailed the abuse she endured during a recent interview with Vulture.
Following Pavlovich’s Vulture interview, Dark Horse Comics announced it would no longer publish Gaiman’s work. Netflix’s television adaptation of Gaiman’s The Sandman will end with its upcoming second season. However, the season was intended to be the show’s last.
