With the Royal Family continuing to receive backlash for the allegedly heavily edited photo that Kate Middleton posted, the Princess of Wales is accused of using a previous Vogue photoshoot in the botched family snap.

Ruby Naldrett, who works for the social media department of UK’s The Daily Mirror, took to X (formerly Twitter) to post a photo of Middleton’s 2016 photoshoot next to the latest family pic. “My analysis of the Kate Middleton photo saga is that they took her face from the Vogue cover she did years ago and edited it in,” she wrote.
The X post has already attracted more than 8.9 million views as well as 11,000 shares. Many actually believe the editing is from the 2016 shoot.
“This goes deeper!” one X user wrote. “The Vogue cover was her ‘breakthrough’ moment, where she became the picture-perfect future queen. Maybe they’re trying to recapture that image? Symbolism over substance, hiding the fact that under the polish, the fairy-tale isn’t so perfect anymore.”
Another user went further to say that the theory makes sense. “That’s why her hair is blurry and translucent from them enhancing where the hat flattened it,” they wrote.
However, many X users continue to question if the theory is actually true. “The lighting is completely different,” a fellow X user noted. “Find it hard to believe that the same person who botched that Photoshop job was able to change the light on her face like that.”
Kate Middleton Apologizes For Edited Photo
Naldrett’s analysis of the latest family photo comes just hours after Kate Middleton apologized for editing the snap.
“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing,” Middleton wrote in the Prince and Princess Wales’ Instagram Stories. “I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C.”
The image features Kate Middleton with her three children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Prince William was credited for taking the picture.
Less than 24 hours after the photo was posted, photo agencies issued a “kill notification” and the photo was pulled over editorial concerns.
Many people have grown concerned over Middleton’s health since her abdominal surgery in Jan. 2024. She was last publicly seen with her family on Christmas Day. The Princess has been staying out of the public eye since her surgery. Kensington Palace pointed out that the surgery was planned. Middleton is to resume her royal duties after Easter.
