An investigation into Kanye West committing battery at a Los Angeles hotel is reportedly winding down due to a lack of cooperation.
Earlier this month, West punched a man who had allegedly sexually assaulted his wife Bianca Censori while the pair was at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. Milo Yiannopoulos, the Chief of Staff at the rapper’s apparel firm Yeezy, revealed to multiple media outlets that the man approached Censori and did vile things to her.
“He put his hand under her dress, directly on her body,” Yiannopoulos explained. “He grabbed her waist, he spun her around, and then he blew her kisses. She was battered and sexually assaulted.”
Although he didn’t witness the ordeal, Kanye West stated he approached the man after Bianca told him what had happened. After a quick chat with the man, West ended up punching him. West and Censori then walked away.
However, it appeared that West hit the wrong man and confused him with his twin brother. Both men were identified as restaurateurs Mark and Jonnie Houston.
Despite Kanye West fully admitting to hitting one of the Houston brothers, TMZ reports that no one has spoken to police. The brother notably did speak to the Los Angeles Police Department on the night in question. They have since stopped cooperating with the investigation.
The authorities believe that the brothers and West have been talking since the situation happened. Sources also told TMZ that the hotel’s surveillance video captured the original incident. However, it only showed one of the brothers running into Censori by mistake.
West’s alleged punch was not caught on camera. It remains unclear which twin West ended up hitting.
Kanye West Being Sued By Former Security Guard For Discrimination
Although his hotel incident might be behind him, Kanye West’s legal woes are far from over.
According to PEOPLE, West is now being sued by a former security guard, Benjamin Deshon Provo, for discrimination against black employees and wrongful termination.
Provo revealed he had worked security for Kanye West at both his private school, Donda Academy. He also worked at a warehouse where the rapper stored his Yeezy clothing line. The former security guard claims that he witnessed West frequently screaming at and berating black employees. Provo also said that he was fired for refusing to cut his dreadlocks.
Provo revealed that he was to put himself and the paparazzi “in harm’s way” by grabbing cameras. He also stated West required that “anyone associated with Donda dispose of books related to Martin Luther King, Jr, Malcolm X, and other major figures within the Black community.”
The former security guard further pointed out the “stark difference” in the way Kanye West treated him and other Black employees compared to their “non-Black counterparts.”
Along with this lawsuit, West was also recently accused by another former employee of discrimination and harassment. In that lawsuit, West was accused of telling Donda Academy students they “could be locked in cages.”
