Showing some love for one of her good friends, Ice Spice gave a shout-out to Taylor Swift during her Coachella 2024 performance over the weekend.
In a new viral photo that was posted on X (formerly Twitter), Ice Spice asked the Coachella crowd if they had heard Taylor’s new album The Tortured Poets Department. The highly anticipated record was released on Friday, April 19.
“Y’all heard Taylor’s new album yet?” she asked and the crowd cheered. “Shout out to Taylor Swift! My good sis.”
The rapper appeared with Swift on the remix version of Karma in 2023. Ice Spice had also appeared with Taylor Swift at Super Bowl LVIII. The duo watched Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs win the big game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Ice Spice previously opened up to Billboard about first hearing Taylor Swift wanted to work with her for the Karma remix. “I started crying when I heard about it,” she said about the collaboration. “I was like, ‘No, you’re lying. That’s not real!’”
Ice Spice then said she became so emotional over the news. “It was like tears of joy, of course. But, just grateful – iconic.”
The remix version of Karma made its debut in May 2023 as part of the extended version of Swift’s Midnights album. Ice Spice and Swift first performed the remix during the Eras Tour show at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
The remix also debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Taylor Swift Previously Said Collaborating With Ice Spice on ‘Karma’ Was One of the ‘Most Natural Things’
While chatting with Spotify in 2023, Taylor Swift praised Ice Spice and said the collaboration just made sense.
“Collaborating with Ice Spice on Karma was one of the most natural things,” Swift explained. “I had been listening to her nonstop, like getting ready for my [Eras] tour, I was just listening to Ice Spice constantly.”
Taylor Swift also told Variety in an email that she relates to Ice Spice in many ways. “But I think her dedication and focus is what blew me away from the start. She’s extremely professional without being cold. Playful and fun without ever taking her eyes off the prize. She knows what is and isn’t ‘her’ and sets those boundaries with grace.”
Swift went on to add that Ice Spice’s ability to carefully find balance with the industry and the rapper’s “definitive original path” impresses the hell out of her.”
