Just after Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist publicly announced their split three months after saying “I Do,” fellow Golden Bachelor star Susan Noles reveals the couple’s key breakup reason.
Noles commented about Turner and Niles’ divorce news on the Golden Hour podcast, stating it all came down to where the couple was willing to live.
“Neither of them can leave their families,” Noles said. She hosts the podcast with former co-star, Kathy Swarts.
As previously reported, Nist and Turner announced on Good Morning America they were getting a divorce. “Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-hear conversations,” Turner explained.
“And we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation, so forth, and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage.”
Nist stated she and Turned appreciated the love and support the Golden Bachelor fans have shown them over the past few months.
“I don’t think we can tell you how many people told us that it gave them so much hope,” she said. “We want none of that to change for anybody.”
Nist then said that while she and Turner tried to find a house, they just couldn’t agree on locations. “We just looked at homes after homes, but never got to the point where we made that decision.”
Turner then said the current living situation just worked for them. “I think we just feel like it’s best for the happiness of each of us, to live apart.”

Refusing to hold back her opinion, Bachelor Nation star Ashley Iaconetti had nothing but criticism towards Golden Bachelor stars.
In her Instagram Stories on Friday, April 12, Iaconetti slammed the former couple’s Good Morning America interview. She referred to the divorce excuses as “BS” because the former couple said, “We’re still in love with each other.”
“If it’s a distance thing – at their age especially – live in Indiana, live in New Jersey, visit each other once or twice a month… Be in love, be married, but like, you know, commute to each other.”
Iaconetti then said she just doesn’t buy the excuses. “I don’t buy that the moving thing is the reason they got divorced three months in.”
However, Iaconetti admitted she wasn’t surprised that Gerry and Theresa were calling quits. “When I came back from the Golden Wedding, my friend Naz [Perez] wanted me on the I Don’t Get It podcast to talk about it,” Iaconetti shared. “I said, ‘No, I can’t because I didn’t feel anything.’”
The former couple first met last fall in the inaugural first season of Golden Bachelor. Turner proposed to Nist at the end of the season. They got married in early Jan. 2024 during a live TV special.
