During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, Beckham said he checked on the former NFL star after watching the special. “The whole concept is quite funny,” Beckham said about the roast. “It was very funny.”
David Beckham also said that Tom Brady is doing well after the special. “I did fire him a message just to check to see if he was OK,” the soccer legend said. “He’s more than OK, but yeah, it was hard to watch.”
When asked if he would be up for a roast for himself, Beckham declared, “No, definitely not.”
The roast, which premiered on Netflix over the weekend, had friends, comedians, and NFL colleagues call out Tom Brady. Among the joke subjects included Brady’s divorce from Gisele Bündchen.
“Gisele gave you an ultimatum,” the special’s host Kevin Hart said. “She said you have to retire or you’re done. But when you have a chance to go 8-9 you gotta do it.”
Hart continued to dig into the split by making fun of Brady over Bündchen. new boyfriend, Joaquim Valente, who was her karate coach. “You know who also f—ed their coach? Gisele, she f—ed her karate coach,” Hart stated. “Tom, how did you not see this coming? Eight karate classes a day?”
Comedian Nikki Glaser also took a swipe at the divorce by declaring, “You have seven rings. Well, eight now that Gisele gave hers back.”
David Beckham Was Asked If Travis Kelce Could Handle a Roast Like Tom Brady Did
When asked by Jimmy Kimmel if NFL star Travis Kelce could handle a roast much like Tom Brady, David Beckham was hopeful.
“I think he can handle it,” Beckham declared. “We know Taylor can definitely handle it.”
Jason and Travis Kelce previously shared their thoughts about roasts. “I don’t get why people do roasts,” Jason said. “I don’t get why they are a thing.”
Mocking what happened to Brady, Jason said, “Haha, yeah, my family’s ruined, it’s so funny, everyone’s laughing, it’s great, we’re having fun, yeah right.”
Jason did a quick about-face about roasts after chatting about how much he thought Brady made by doing the Netflix special. “I take it back,” Jason joked. “I’ll do the roast. What’d you guys pay Tom?”
He then said the one person he wouldn’t allow on stage is his wife Kylie. “She knows too much… Every day I am getting roasted by Kylie.”
