While speaking to TMZ over the weekend, the Vanderpump Rules alum stated that the problem is Jax. “He’s not really trying that much right now,” Cartwright explained.
When asked if she and Taylor have done marriage counseling, she hinted there was a discussion about doing so. “I’ve asked him for a while to do certain things,” Brittany Cartwright pointed out. “And nothing has come from that.”
Continuing to discuss her estranged marriage, Cartwright explained, “Whenever you fight with somebody for so long, there’s only so much you can take, and you know, I deserve better, [our 2-year-old son] Cruz deserves better.”
Brittany Cartwright went on to share that she and Taylor want a good co-parenting relationship, despite the current circumstance. “I think that me moving out and taking space to figure out if this is what I want is, like, the best situation for me right now.”
Although she and Taylor aren’t working out, Brittany Cartwright states she still loves her husband.
“I just want the best for me and my son at this point. That’s like my main focus. If he switches some things and changes some things about his life then maybe we can get back together. But right now, I don’t know.”
Brittany Cartwright Says Her Separation From Jax Taylor is ‘Absolutely Not’ a Publicity Stunt
Meanwhile, Page Six confirmed with Brittany Cartwright that the separation between her and Jax Taylor is not a publicity stunt to promote their new reality series The Valley.
Cartwright also told TMZ that another key focus in the separation is her mental health. “I think that’s been one of the hardest parts right now is that people are speculating that I am doing something for the show coming out.”
Brittany Cartwright also pointed out that the new show will focus on why she and Taylor made the decision to separate. The couple got married in June 2019. Their wedding was featured on Vanderpump Rules.
They welcomed their son in April 2021 one year after announcing their departure from Vanderpump Rules. Cartwright announced the separation during the couple’s When Reality Hits With Jax and Brittany podcast last week.
“Yes, marriages in general are very hard and I’ve had a particularly rough year this past year,” she stated. “Jax and I are taking time apart and I made the decision to move into another home to take some space for the sake of my mental health.”
The Valley is set to premiere on March 19 through Bravo.
