In late November, the body of the 24-year-old was discovered on a beach less than a mile from where she was last seen. Per the New York Post, she had been meditating on a rock at a popular cliffside viewpoint overlooking the Gulf of Thailand.
A video circulating on social media appeared to show the tragic event as it unfolded. Several bystanders were seen gesturing toward Belyatskaya as she lounged by the water’s edge on the island of Koh Samui.
A large wave crashed over her, sweeping her off the rocks and into the open sea. In the video, Belyatskaya tried to keep her head above the rough water, but the waves eventually pulled her under. All that’s left was her pink yoga mat, floating on the surface.

The Koh Samui Tourist Police responded to the tragic incident on Nov. 29, at approximately 1:30 p.m. local time.
According to CCTV footage reviewed by police, Belyatskaya, a Russian tourist visiting Thailand with her fiancé, arrived at the Laad Koh viewpoint in Surat Thani Province approximately 30 minutes before the incident.
As reported by Khaosod English, the actress had brought a pink yoga mat to a rocky area below the viewpoint. Tragically, moments later, a powerful wave swept her into the sea.
Beliatskaya had been vacationing in Thailand with her fiancé, Grigorii Anokhim. He revealed that he discovered her death through posts on social media.
“On the day of the accident, my girlfriend said she was going to play tennis, but I did not know that she had stopped by to relax at the Lad Koh viewpoint,” Anokhim told local outlets, per the New York Post.
“I only found out what had happened from social media,” he added. “I was devastated and immediately went to the area to help look for her.”
After five years together, the couple was preparing to wed in Russia in mid-December.
Meanwhile, authorities stressed systems are in place to advise tourists of severe conditions along their beaches.
Per The Post, Chaiyaporn Subprasert, head of the Samui Rescue Centre, stated that warning systems are installed across the island’s beaches to alert tourists about potential hazardous swimming conditions and unsafe coastlines.
