Amy Schumer gave Jimmy Buffett a special send-off that the beloved singer no doubt enjoyed alongside his cheeseburger in paradise.
Sascha Seinfeld, a staff writer for Amy’s show Life & Beth and daughter of Jerry Seinfeld, took the stage at the Variety Power of Women event in NYC to introduce the comedian. In her opening remarks, she recounted a hilarious tale of a classic Amy Schumer prank during a dinner tribute to the legendary Jimmy Buffett.
“Last summer at a memorial dinner for the late, great Jimmy Buffett, when his widow Jane Buffett entered the room of grieving guests, Amy took one of her t–s out, walked right up to Jane, and gave her a huge hug,” Seinfeld recalled, via Page Six.
According to Seinfeld, Schumer’s strategic nip slip was the perfect counterbalance to the dour affair.
“It cut right through the darkness and made everyone smile. If that isn’t a celebration of life, I don’t know what is.”
Seinfeld continued, “She also said to his daughter and my friend Delaney, ‘If it makes you feel any better, I wish my dad was dead.’”
Amy Schumer Has Had a Close Relationship With Jimmy Buffett’s Family For Years
Schumer has maintained a friendship with the Buffett family for years, revealing that she grew up listening to Jimmy’s music. The singer also made a guest appearance in the second season of Life & Beth.
The legendary singer succumbed to skin cancer in September last year, at the age of 76.
In her speech, Schumer focused on female empowerment and her collaboration with Everytown for Gun Safety. This partnership was prompted by the tragic shooting of two women at a screening of her film Trainwreck in July 2015.
Meanwhile, Schumer recently gave an update on her battle with the hormonal disorder Cushing syndrome.
“I’m feeling better,” she told ET recently. “I still have this Cushing syndrome, but you just have to wait for the steroids to work through your system. I feel a lot better. They’re not all the way through, but I feel a lot stronger and proud to be here.”
Cushing syndrome manifests when the body excessively produces the hormone cortisol over a prolonged period. Symptoms usually include weight gain, a rounded face, neck fat, easy bruising, and muscle weakness. While specific medications can induce this condition, extended periods of stress may also play a significant role.
