For the first time, Shyne is publicly claiming his innocence. Claiming that he was only defending himself during the 1999 incident.
Shyne Speaks Out About 1999 Shooting
“I’m just saying that I maintained my innocence all this time. I said I was defending myself, I didn’t get into who did what, but the victim is telling you who did what and I understand that there are other witnesses,” he said.
“I am relieved that people are saying what the truth is, that I did not shoot those people; I maintain that I never shoot nobody, that there were other guns there. I’ve always said that, that has not changed and that is the testimony that came out.”
Shyne never accuss Diddy of doing anything, just maintains his innocence. He also thanked the hip-hop mogul for his contributions to his country Belize, and said that he “Wishes him well.”
“I wish him well and I pray for him, and I pray for the alleged victims, and if it is true, may justice be served and if it’s not, it’s a tragedy because a global icon would have been destroyed,” he added.
Victim Speaks Out About Nightclub Incident
Shyne was sentenced to 10 years in prison which ultimately spelled the end of his rap career. It is already an unfortunate situation. But it would be even more unfortunate if the former Bad Boy artist served time for a crime he did not commit.
One of the victims, Natania Reuben has testified for years that it was Diddy who fired the weapon. But she says the influence of the Hip-Hop mogul was the reason she was not believed initially.
“I didn’t have any reason to believe that someone would not believe me,” she said. “But as things unfolded, it was a very short period of time where I realized that’s what was happening.”
She also says that the case needs to be reopened so justice can be appropriately served.
“We all had to go and speak at the grand jury. JLo testified at the grand jury, as did many other people. (The criminal case) needs to be reopened, because if that is, in fact, the case, she carried the gun in and she lied to the grand jury. It needs to be reopened,” she added.
