“Richard Sherman ended up spending Saturday and Sunday in the slammer — the ex-NFL superstar was finally booted from jail after he was arrested for DUI early Saturday morning, walking out $5k lighter and with an order from the judge to steer clear of booze,” TMZ wrote.
“Sherman was arrested for driving under the influence after he was pulled over by Washington State police just before 2 AM for speeding. During the stop, the 5x Pro Bowler admitted to drinking two margaritas, according to cops. Richard refused a breathalyzer and was ultimately arrested and hauled off to Kings County Jail.”
Richard Sherman Had Trouble With The Law in 2021
This is not the first time Sherman has been in trouble for driving under the influence. In 2021 the All-Pro cornerback crashed his car into a nearby construction zone. After that, he tried to break into his in-laws house. Luckily for Sherman, he did not have to serve any time for the incident.
“In summer 2021, Sherman was arrested after he allegedly drove under the influence, crashed his SUV in a construction zone, and tried to break into his in-laws’ suburban Seattle home. The initial case against him included allegations of criminal trespass, DUI, and resisting arrest,” NBC wrote.
“As part of an agreement with King County Superior Court following those incidents, he pleaded guilty in March 2022 to two misdemeanor counts — first-degree negligent driving and second-degree criminal trespass. The agreement included court supervision through part of 2024 as well as a suspended 90-day jail sentence.”
Shannon Sharpe Calls Out Former NFL Star
Sherman has become one of the most popular figures in sports media since leaving the NFL behind. But since concluding his playing days he has found himself in multiple run-ins with the law. It is something that has become quite concerning. NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe expressed his disappointment with the FS1 analyst.
“For Sherm to put himself back in harm’s way and to potentially bring others, that’s what I’m most disappointed in. Because he knows better,” Sharpe said.
“You brought every other car that’s on the road into the equation. We always say what didn’t happen, but then when it does happen, ‘Thoughts and prayers.’ Thoughts and prayers ain’t help nobody. I know Sherm. And I just hate that he put himself back in this situation.”
