According to The Sun, the arrest occurred last Friday, just before McNally was scheduled to attend the world’s largest Dr. Who fan convention in Los Angeles. He was released on bail of £40,000 and is due in court in March.
The media outlet revealed that while Kevin McNally is married to actress Phyllis Logan, authorities have declined to share details about his alleged victim.
However, the Los Angeles police stated that McNally was being held on suspicion of inflicting an injury that caused a “traumatic condition” on a victim who was his “current or former spouse, cohabitant, or child’s parent.”
Kevin McNally Spoke Out in Support of Johnny Depp During the Court Battle With Amber Heard
Kevin McNally previously made headlines a few years ago while defending his Pirates of the Caribbean co-star Johnny Depp when he was accused of being violent towards his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
“I’ve never seen a hint of a dark side to him,” Kevin McNally said about Depp. “I see a great humanitarian and a beautiful human being. I don’t see any impediment for him coming back and playing Jack Sparrow.”
McNally also said that the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is nothing without Depp. “I think there was a general feeling that without Jack there is no Pirates franchise. And there’s probably a lot of truth in that. But now there have been questions about that, certainly why not have other Pirate films and certainly then why not have Jack back or Jack playing a different part.”
Depp previously stated that he was a victim of cancel culture. He also said that “no one is safe” when it comes to cancel culture. He urged others to stand up for themselves. The actor’s ex Heard accused him of verbal and physical abuse during their marriage. He ended up losing his role in the Fantastic Beast franchise due to the accusation.
“It can be seen as an event in history that lasted for however long it lasted,” Depp stated in 2022. “This cancel culture, this instant rush to judgement based on what essentially amounts to polluted air.”
“It’s so far out of hand now that I can promise you that no one is safe. Not one of you. No one out that door. No one is safe. It takes one sentence and there’s no more ground, the carpet has been pulled.”
