While speaking to The New York Times last month, the Wild Rose star shared that she was 33 weeks pregnant. “There’s a growing little creature, a little monster in my belly,” the Irish actress said with a smile, per the outlet.
She further revealed that her “creation” was born “out of grief and wanting to put the bits of her that were broken.”
The actress, who received an Oscar nom for her supporting role in The Lost Daughter, has kept her personal life mostly private and has not revealed the identity of her husband, Freddie. Before marrying Freddie in 2022, she dated James Norton. They broke up in 2017 after dating for two years.
“We have broken up, yes,” she told the BBC at the time of her split from Norton. “It was acrimonious, but it’s a tough job to have a relationship, and he is a great man, and we are great friends. That’s it. How diplomatic can I sound?”
She then stated, “If you are away for a year filming, you are just not physically around at points.”
The Oscar-Nominated Actress Once Spoke About What It Means to Be a “Good Mother”
While promoting 2021’s The Lost Daughter, Buckley spoke to GQ about her character, Leda, and what it means to be a good mother.
“My mum worked all her life. She’d literally give birth, and then two days later be playing at a wedding for somebody, you know, she’s always done that,” the actress explained. “And it’s hard balancing being a mother, being a wife, and being your own person. What I came away from this was,”
She further declared, “Who are we to judge what being a good mother is? You know, maybe Leda was the better mother for leaving, and choosing life, instead of reducing herself to a hollowed-out shell of who she could be.”
“I would hope that I would have the same courage to walk into life in that way,” Buckley added.
