Law’s Choice Distillery shared the sad news of the Virginia-based distiller’s passing in a Facebook post on Wednesday, January 15.
“With sorrow, we announce that Everett ‘Kenny’ Law passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, surrounded by loved ones,” the distillery wrote alongside a snapshot of Law. It featured him sitting along a creek bed, gazing into a mason jar presumablly full of white lightning.
“We will share his obituary as soon as possible,” the post added. “Thank you to everyone so far for the outpouring of love, support, and prayers.”
A cause of death has not been revealed.
However, Kenny’s cousin, Henry Law, who co-owned Law’s Choice Distillery with him, shared with TMZ that the fan-favorite TV personality passed away at a local hospital. Kenny had faced ongoing health challenges over the years, including heart issues and diabetes. His final hospitalization was reportedly due to a blood infection.
Law became famous as a star of Discovery’s Moonshiners, a series that has entertained viewers since it first aired in 2011 and has now run for 14 seasons.
The show followed “a diverse group of people living in Appalachia who carry on a 200-year-old tradition passed down from their forefathers, making moonshine,” per an official synopsis.
Per Law’s obituary, he was “a true outlaw – rebellious, fun-loving, charming, and tough as nails, yet soft-hearted toward those he loved.”
“He was a third-generation moonshiner, following in the footsteps of his father and grandpa, Owen Law. He experienced many perils in life, but miraculously, he seemed to be a ‘cat with nine lives.’”
