Perhaps getting a dose of the real public for the first time, the mogul took to the stage of Netflix’s comedy special honoring Brady to a chorus of boos.
During her already infamous attempt at comedy, the reality star and aspiring lawyer (for several years running now) claimed to feel uncomfortable watching the NFL legend getting lambasted by professional comedians and people with actual charisma.
“Honestly, it’s hard for me to watch people roast you,” she began with yet another failed joke. “But I think enough of my family members have helped defend former football players.”
Kim Kardashian’s father, Robert Kardashian, gained fame as a key member of the defense team for NFL star O.J. Simpson in his 1995 murder trial.
Simpson, who died last month, was acquitted in the 1994 murder case of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman, in one of the most publicized US trials ever.
Kim Kardashian’s O.J. Simpson Connection Wasn’t All She Exploited at Tom Brady’s Roast
Of course, Kim Kardashian didn’t just exploit her connection to O.J. Simpson during Tom Brady’s roast. She was more than willing to pluck other low hanging fruits in an attempt to win over the jeering crowd.
Referring to her famous sex tape with ex-boyfriend Ray J, which catapulted her to fame, she mentioned: “Speaking of Tom and I dating, I know there were some rumors that we were and I’d never say if we did or not. I’d just release the tape.”
“But I do know it would never work out,” she continued to a bemused audience. “An ex-athlete, high cheekbones, silky hair, you remind me too much of my stepdad now.”
Kim continued, mercilessly dragging her former stepfather-turned-former stepmother, Caitlyn Jenner.
“Part of me thinks would you want to undress me just to try on my clothes. I know the transition from the NFL must have been really hard. [However] I think my stepdad is a great example for you.”
“She’s one of the best athletes in the world. [She] proves you can do anything in this next chapter of your life,” she added, before fumbling the punchline with a dead, almost robotic reading. “You can become a commentator, a far-right Republican, or even a strong confident woman.”
Kim wrapped up by offering career guidance to Brady, who is regarded as one of the NFL’s all-time greatest players. “Retirement isn’t easy, it can be a lot like a bad break-up,” Kim flatly stated.
“So I’ll give you the same advice that I give all my exes. Good luck knowing the best is behind you.”
