While performing as a special guest of Renee Rapp, Kesha performed her 2009 song. Although the original lyrics read “Wake up in the mornin’ feelin’ like P. Diddy,” she changed things up.
“Wake up in the mornin’ feelin’ like f— P. Diddy,” she loudly declared. Rapp also joined in and sang the song with her. The duo then stuck their middle fingers in the air.

Kesha continued to sing the song in its original lyrical form. The changes were in response to the legal woes that Sean “Diddy” Combs is currently experiencing.
Along with assault, the famed rapper and entrepreneur is accused of being involved in a sex trafficking scheme. The allegations drew the attention of Homeland Security, which recently raided multiple properties of Diddy’s.
When the allegations first started last fall, Kesha changed the lyrics by singing, “Wake up in the morning feelin’ like me.”
Kesha Once Opened Up About ‘Bizarre’ Collaboration With Diddy For ‘Tik Tok’
During a 2009 interview with MTV News, Kesha spoke about the “bizarre” collaboration she had with Diddy for Tik Tok.
“Diddy ended up on Tik Tok because one morning, I woke up surrounded by a bunch of hot babes, and I was like, ‘I’m like Diddy, man,’” she recalled. “Then I wrote the first line of Tik Tok, which is ‘Wake up in the morning feeling like P. Diddy.’”
At the time, she was working with her former producer, Dr. Luke, who received an interesting phone call from Diddy hours after she thought up the song’s first line.
“As fate would have it, I swear to you, about four hours later, Diddy called Luke for the first time ever saying we should do a song together sometime.”
Although he was pretty busy at the time, Diddy was able to come in and contribute to the song. Throughout the song, he is heard rapping, “Hey, what up girl?” and “Let’s Go.”
“He agreed to come in that day,” Kesha continued. “It was so bizarre, but as fate would have it, happened in the course of hours. We all were hanging out and I was so intimidated.. be he was the nicest guy.”
Tik Tok is on her debut album, Animal, which was released in January 2010.
