Middleton went to a morning service at Crathie Kirk Church in the Scottish village of Crathie over the weekend. The church is near the family’s Balmoral estate. She was accompanied by Prince William and the couple’s eldest son, Prince George. Her other children Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were not seen during the outing.
King George III and Queen Camila as well as Prince Edward, Duchess Sophie, and their son James were also at the church’s morning service.
Last month, Kate Middleton received a standing ovation at the 2024 Wimbledon Tournament. She attended the Men’s Final Match between Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz and Serbian Novak Djokovic with her daughter Princess Charlotte. Her sister, Pippa Middleton, was also at the match.
Although Prince William wasn’t present at the event, Kate Middleton seemingly enjoyed the warm praise from the crowd.
The royal couple previously posted a video on their social media accounts congratulating Team Great Britain for its performance at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. “From all of us watching at home, congratulations to Team GB,” Kate stated in the clip posted to the X and Instagram accounts on Aug. 11.
The Princess is currently battling an unknown cancer. She announced her diagnosis earlier this year.
Insider Says Kate Middleton’s Wimbledon Outing Gave Her ‘Sustenance’ Amid Cancer Battle
Just after Kate Middleton’s appearance at the 2024 Wimbledon Tournament, a source pointed out the importance of that outing and how much it meant to the royal.
“This will have given her sustenance,” the insider shared with PEOPLE. “She has gone through something awful and stressful, and it is crucial to have little wins to look forward to or to give you the courage and energy to go forward. And this was it.”
Robert Jobson, author of the new book Catherine, the Princess of Wales: A Biography of the Future Queen, also praised Kate Middleton for her appearance. “It showed a lot of courage and character, as she knew that the world was watching.”
Photographer Karwai Tang stated the appearance was different than usual. “She usually comes in, walks down, and into her seat,” Tang explained. “But she stood for a while and took it all in. For her to acknowledge it and take in the applause was special. Wimbledon had been waiting with bated breath for her to return, and she was back.”
