“We are working with distillery and local officials to assess the damage,” the company shared.
Moore County Sheriff Tyler Hatfield further confirmed that a barrel house “did partially collapse.” However, the Metro Moore County Sheriff’s Department was no longer involved in the incident.
“Jack Daniel’s has plenty of resources to handle the situation,” Hatfield said. “Everything is contained at this point.”
Company spokesperson Ashley Schaffner Fletcher also shared details about the extent of the damage in a statement to The Tennessean.
“We are working to conduct a full assessment of the damage at this time, but believe no more than 15 percent of the barrels inside the house were impacted,” Flecher explained. “All affected whiskey has been contained and we are working with all appropriate government agencies as we remediate this incident.”
Fletcher further shared that the collapse occurred at barrel house 2-15, which was built in the 1960s. The barrel house also has a hold capacity of about 19,000 barrels of maturing Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey.
Despite the partial collapse, Fletcher added that the distillery operations and tours were running normally Monday afternoon.
