Dr. Dre Recalls First Time Meeting Eminem
Eminem is often regarded as one of the best lyricists ever. His career began when he linked up with legendary hip-hop producer Dr. Dre. Together they created the Shady Aftermath music label. In a recent interview, Dre recalled his first time hearing Eminem. He revealed that upon first listening, he did not know that Eminem was white.
“I was just starting this new thing, this new campaign with Aftermath Records, and I was working on my second solo album at the time, and it was just OK,” Dre said.
“We would go down to his garage, which he turned into a listening room, and he would just play demos. He just said one day, ‘What do you think about this?’ And he played this artist — which was Eminem — and I had no idea he was a white guy at the time.”
Producer Names Detroit Rapper Best MC Ever
Dr. Dre has worked with some of the top talents in the music industry. Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, and Eazy-E are just a few of the hip-hop legends that he has collaborated with. But even with all of the talented artists that he has worked with Dr. Dre says Eminem is the best emcee to grace a microphone.
“His imagination is off the charts, and I don’t think anyone would disagree with that. I think he’s the best MC ever. Point blank, period,” he said.
“Of course, there are going to be arguments about that because he’s a white guy. I don’t think anyone that’s rapping can touch Eminem on that microphone.”
