Indeed, it seems like hopeful thespians are getting hot under the cravat. Casting director Kelly Valentine Henry reports her inbox is overflowing with X-rated audition tapes from actors eager to join the next season of the sizzling period drama.
On a recent episode of the Should I Delete That? podcast, Henry confessed that some of the videos she receives look more like Playboy spreads than audition tapes.
“It’s every day. I get the most unbelievable videos, unsolicited,” Henry admitted to hosts Em Clarkson and Alex Light.
“It’s sex basically, it’s not actual sex but it’s quite punchy,” she added. “It’s not nudey pictures, but not far off.” Henry went on to explain that her inbox is consistently “90 percent” filled with emails from aspiring actors hoping to land their big break on the series.
Bridgerton, which burst onto the scene in 2020, swiftly became everyone’s guilty pleasure with its swoon-worthy romance, lavish costumes, and unforgettable monologues.
Casting is Underway for ‘Bridgerton’ Season 4
Henry is currently casting for Season 4. They’re particularly focused on finding Sophie Beckett, the character who captivates Benedict Bridgerton, portrayed by Luke Thompson.
The part remains up for grabs. Of course, Henry said that “everyone” wants the role. They seem to be willing to go above and beyond to secure it.
One actress even sent Henry a colossal “heavy-duty” plastic banner of herself in full Regency regalia. “It’s a bit sad, really,” Henry quipped. “I don’t understand.”
Meanwhile, Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan recently clapped back at allegations of photoshopping her waistline. Coughlan, who shines as Penelope Featherington on Netflix’s hit series, reveals that the Regency-inspired costumes have set social media abuzz with speculation and envy.
“I think if you wear corsetry for long enough, your body really molds to it,” she recently told People about the period piece costumes.
“Sometimes they come in a fitting for a fashion designer. They put a corset on me and I’m like, ‘Oh, you can go tight’. And they go, ‘What do you mean?’ I’m like, ‘My body now will go whew.’”
“I saw some trolls. They were like, ‘They photoshopped your waist,’ and I was like, ‘No, they did not,’” she explained.
