According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the Achy Breaky Heart hitmaker claimed that his estranged wife put 37 unauthorized charges onto his American Express business card between May 23 and June 7. The charges totaled to $96,986.05.
Billy Ray Cyrus stated in his claim that Firerose overcharged the account without his knowledge. He also revealed he never gave her access to the cards or accounts.
Intouch Weekly reports that Cyrus has asked the court to order his soon-to-be ex-wife to stop using his credit cards and to reimburse him for the money she’s allegedly spent.
Last month, Billy Ray Cyrus quietly filed for divorce from his wife just seven months after they got married. He cited “irreconcilable differences” and “inappropriate marital conduct” as the reasons behind the split.
The former couple allegedly agreed that she would move out of the Cyrus home by the end of May. Per their agreement, Cyrus would pay Firerose $5,000 per month for her new home for three months or until the divorce was finalized.
In his latest motion about the credit cards, Billy Ray Cyrus stated that he and Firerose did not have any joint accounts or credit cards during their marriage.
He also claimed that Firerose has real estate in Los Angeles and more than $500,000 in liquid and investment assets.
Why Firerose Allegedly Used Billy Ray Cyrus’ Credit Card
Meanwhile, Billy Ray Cyrus listed several items that Firerose bought with his business credit. Among the items included several flights, Vernmo payments, and more than $50,000 to a law firm. A total of $10,000 was charged to the United States Treasury.
“Upon learning of the fraudulent use of Mr. Cyrus’ business American Express Card, American Express was notified,” Cyrus’ motion reads. “And the thirty-seven unauthorized charges are being disputed as fraudulent charges.”
Billy Ray Cyrus further stated that the law firm hired by Firerose paid $45,000. He also claimed that he did not believe Firerose flew or was planning to fly to and from California on the dates of the scheduled flights purchased.
“More likely purchased those flights and then canceled them to obtain future flight credits on Delta Airlines.”
Firerose’s attorney responded to Billy Ray Cyrus’ claim by stating she has had access to the credit card since 2022. “To claim Wife has made 37 unauthorized charges is untrue,” her attorneys stated.
“Throughout the divorce proceedings, the parties are to live as per the status quo during the marriage. Wife was simply living as she has since October 10, 2023, and Husband has no right to cut her off.”
