Despite her role in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, which features countless car stunts, Anya Taylor-Joy recently confessed that she “still” doesn’t have a driver’s license.
In the film, Anya stars as the younger version of Imperator Furiosa.
However, “I still don’t have my license,” she told Entertainment Weekly while interviewing alongside costar Chris Hemsworth. “I haven’t been anywhere long enough to get a license.”
“Unofficially, she does,” Chris added.
“Yeah, it is pretty cool that the first thing I learned to do in a car is a juicy lift 180,” Anya recalled. “I feel pretty secure in that, but I love cars. I love Formula 1. My dad was a power boat racer, so we’re just pretty petrol-y as a family.”

Back in 2022, Anya revealed on The Graham Norton Show that her first time behind the wheel was “really crazy and slightly upsetting.”
“I can’t parallel park. I can’t go on the highway. I still don’t have [a license] — but I can do that,” she said, referencing the “juicy lift 180.”
“At some point that will come in handy, I’m assuming … The way that they’ve trained me how to drive now is as if I’m in a high-intensity chase at all times,” she continued. “I’m kind of nervous to get my license now. I’m a bit concerned about society.”
Meanwhile, it’s been two years since that interview. Anya admitted that she still doesn’t have her license.
However, “I know once I have my license, the stupid car that I’m going to get,” she told her co-star. “I’ll probably break it. It’s a Ferrari Dino. Those are hot cars. It’s going to be bright yellow and I’m psyched.”
“Your driving test should just be you handing them a DVD of Furiosa,” Chris joked. “‘You tell me if I can f—ing drive.'”
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will be in theaters on May 24.
