The couple has been married since 2002 and share three children.
In her latest Instagram post, which featured a picture from the couple’s wedding, Alisyn Camerota opened up about how Tim Lewis passed away on July 27, just two years after he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
“I cannot imagine any human being soldiering through a devastating diagnosis with more humor, humility, and bravery than Tim,” Camerota shared about Lewis “He was a phenomenal father, husband, friend, and role model and the rest of us are left trying to follow in his footsteps.”
Camerota also revealed that she and the children are still getting their bearings months after Lewis’ death. “Tim imbued us with a lot of strength and stability,” she continued. “And we’re determined to try to emulate those qualities.”
The CNN anchor further shared that her late husband was devoted to giving back to his community and trying to make life easier for those around him. “To that end, we’ve set up a fund in his memory to help other families enduring a similar struggle. I would be honored if you would consider a contribution.”

Camerota then added, “This month would have been our 23rd wedding anniversary. I feel incredibly lucky to have had such a deep, committed, loving partnership for the time we had. I plan to write more in the coming days and to be back at work in the next few weeks. Thank you all for your love and letters, trays of lasagna, and the many, many gestures of kindness. I am grateful.”
The Tim Lewis Foundation to Fight Cancer Aims to Help Others Struggling Who Struggle With Pancreatic Cancer Challenges
According to its website, the Tim Lewis Foundation to Fight Cancer was established to help other people and families struggling with the particularly challenging diagnosis of pancreatic cancer through research, clinical trials, and support.
“Tim balanced a demanding career with a tireless devotion to his family,” the website reads. “He loved his wife and kids deeply and actively. Tim was famous for coordinating play-dates, soccer schedules, date night, violin and drum lessons, all while ordering fall clothing for the kids (to their chagrin) and making high-stakes work conference calls.”
The website also described Lewis as a memory-making mastermind, relentless in his pursuit of family time through neighborhood walks, vacation hikes, and beach dinners. “Even when it was just sitting at the kitchen table doing puzzles, being with family was the life experience Tim most valued.”
Donations to the Tim Lewis Foundation to Fight Cancer are 100% and immediately tax deductible.
Tim’s family will decide how to allocate the funds to registered 501c3 charities. Among those charities are such as Let’s Win Pancreatic Cancer, Nowalk Hospital Foundation Pancreatic Cancer Research and Lustgarten Foundation. Grants will made several times a year as Tim’s family determines where the greatest need is.
