Sean Kingston Addresses Home Raid, Mother’s Arrest
“People love negative energy!” he wrote on his Instagram Story Thursday. “I am good and so is my mother! … my lawyers are handling everything as we speak.”
It is still unclear exactly why Kingston’s mother was arrested by the feds. However, Officer Carey Todd told Fox News that his mother, Janice Turner, is facing “numerous fraud and theft charges.”
“Following an investigation that began in the city of Dania Beach, this morning, May 23, Broward Sheriff’s Office Dania Beach District detectives along with members of BSO’s Strategic Investigations Unit and Davie Police SWAT, served arrest and search warrants at a residence in Southwest Ranches,” Todd told Fox News.
“As a result of the investigation, an adult female, Janice Turner, was taken into custody on numerous fraud and theft charges.”
Todd also told the outlet that the investigation is still ongoing.
Artist Accused of Fraud By Entertainment Company
There is also an interesting nugget to the story. Kingston apparently has a nasty habit of financing things that are out of his price range. The artist ordered a $150,000 entertainment system for his Florida rental home. He still has not settled the debt and is being sued as a result. The plaintiff’s lawyer, Dennis Card says that Kingston has hundreds of thousands in unsettled debts to his client.
“He likes having bling, he likes showing off, he’s a showman. My client has a $150,000 television sound system that’s in there, there’s also about one million worth of watches that are in there, and there’s a $80,000 custom bed that was ordered. This is an organized systematic fraud,” Card said.
“He’s got basically a script, he says that he works with Justin Bieber and that he obviously puts on a big show here, this is a rental house, he doesn’t own it, and he lures people using his celebrity into having them release things without him paying for it and then he simply never pays.”
