Last week, the Daily Mail published a series of images from CCTV footage of Payne being carried through the Buenos Aires hotel shortly before he fell from the balcony of his hotel room on Oct. 16.
A witness claimed that the singer, who was allegedly high on drugs, appeared to have been “convulsing” on the lobby floor. That was when a trio of hotel employees lifted him off the floor and returned him to his third-floor hotel room.
Timestamps show that the staff took 90 seconds to take Liam Payne to his hotel room, which may show the timing on the still images to be incorrect. One photo of the staff carrying Liam has a timestamp that shows 16:54:48.
Liam Payne tragically died shortly after 17:00 local time.
The preliminary autopsy revealed Payne died on the scene after sustaining “multiple injuries involving internal and external hemorrhage.” The One Direction bandmate was also in a “state of semi or total unconsciousness” at the of his fall.
The disturbing images quickly sparked public outrage, with those close to Liam Payne’s girlfriend immediately speaking out.
“He could have been saved, he could have been helped,” a source close to Cassidy told the New York Post. “It’s devastating – and infuriating.”
The insider further pointed out, “Whenever it seems it can’t get more painful for Kate, it gets even more painful.”
Liam Payne Was Allegedly Acting Erratic Shortly Before His Death
Just after Liam Payne’s death was announced, witnesses stated he had been acting “erratic” while in the lobby of the hotel shortly before his deadly fall.
Shortly before Payne died, the hotel manager had called 911 about a guest acting unruly. “We have a guest who is [allegedly] high and drunk,” the person, identified as Estaban, told the dispatcher. “And when he is conscious, he is destroying his room and we need you to send someone, please. We need you to send someone urgently because I don’t know if his life is in danger.”
“He is in a room that has a balcony,” he also stated. “We are scared he might be endangering his life.”
Following Payne’s death, local authorities investigated his room. They discovered numerous types of drugs. Among them was “pink cocaine,” which is a combination of methamphetamine, ketamine, and ecstasy.
Weeks after his death, Payne was transported back to his home country, the UK. His friends, including One Direction bandmates, as well as his family, held a funeral.
He is buried at St. Mary the Virgin Churchyard in Amersham, Chiltern District, Buckinghamshire.
