In particular, Gallagher takes issue with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nominating artists from other genres to join the prestigious group. This year saw a collection of artists from a variety of genres, not just rock. Nominees include Gallagher’s band Oasis, Cher, Dave Matthew Band, Eric B. & Rakim, Peter Frampton, Mary J. Blige, Foreigner, Cher, Mariah Carey, Jane’s addiction, Lenny Kravitz, Kool & the Gang, Sinead O’Connor, Ozzy Osbourne, A Tribe Called Quest, and Sade.
In particular, Gallagher took issue with Mariah Carey on the list. Speaking to The Sunday Times, Gallagher vented his frustrations.
“As much as I love Mariah Carey and all that, I want to say: do me a favor and f— off,” Gallagher told the outlet. “It’s like putting me in the rap hall of fame, and I don’t want to be part of anything that mentally disturbed. Besides, I’ve done more for rock n’ roll than half of them clowns on that board. So it’s all a load of b–l-cks.”
Liam Gallagher Isn’t Happy
Gallagher also took to social media to voice his disdain.
“F— the Rock n Roll hall of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS LG x,” he wrote. He urged fans not to waste their time voting. “As much as it’s appreciated it’s all a load of b–lox,” he wrote.
Meanwhile, Osbourne thanked the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for the nomination. The Osbournes previously called out the institution for not nominating the singer.
“I’m deeply honored to receive this news from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame,” Osbourne said in a statement. “To be one of the few musicians who’s being considered for a second entry, now as a solo artist, is something I could never have imagined. After 44 years as a solo artist the fact that I can continue to record music and receive this recognition is something I am incredibly proud of.”
Previously, Sharon Osbourne blasted the institution. She said that Osbourne more than earned his place among the pantheon.
She said, “They know he’s been a solo artist. You’ve gotta be doing it for 24 years. He’s been 43 years as a solo artist. He sold nearly a hundred million albums as a solo artist. So where is he? Induct him!”
