Kim Kardashian Recently Met With Vice President Kamala Harris, Pardon Recipients to Discuss Criminal Justice Reform
Continuing to walk in her famous father’s footsteps, Kim Kardashian made her way to the White House last week to discuss criminal justice reform with Vice President Kamala Harris and pardon recipients.
According to ABC News, Kardashian’s conversation with the Vice President included four recent pardon recipients, Jason Hernandez, Bobby Darrell Lowery, Jesse Mosley, and Beverly Holcy.
During her meeting with Kim Kardashian, Vice President Harris commended the reality TV star for her advocacy and for using her platform “in a way that has really lifted up the importance of talking about and being dedicated to second chances.”
Since 2018, Kardashian has been outspoken about criminal justice reform. She previously met with former President Trump to push for the commutation of Alice Marie Johnson, who was serving 21 years for a nonviolent drug offense.
“I’m so honored to be here to continue this fight,” Kardashian told Vice President Harris. “To learn more every day, every visit, every administration. I’m just here to help and spread the word.”
Vice President Harris then said, “I’m a big believer in the power of redemption. It is not the sign of a civil society that we allow people to earn their way back, and give them the support and resources they need to do that?”
The meeting came less than 24 hours after President Joe Biden granted clemency to 16 people. He pardoned 11 and commuted sentences for five. All of whom were convicted of non-violent drug offenses.
