According to PEOPLE, “Henry Winkler was among the many hotel guests who had to evacuate The Shelbourne hotel in Dublin, Ireland amid a fire on Wednesday, June 12. The blaze occurred on the fifth floor of the 1824 hotel at 10:38 a.m. local time, the Dublin Fire Brigade confirmed to PEOPLE.”
“When I heard the fire alarm, I thought it was the clock radio,” Winkler told local news outlet RTE. “I thought somebody had set the alarm before we got there, you know, like another guest. And finally I went into another room and it was still buzzing.”
He then called the front desk to figure out what was going on.
“The woman said in a very calm voice, ‘Yes, we’re all evacuating, you must evacuate right now,'” he revealed.
“We came last night, our plane was delayed in London for about three-and-a-half hours,” he continued, highlighting the mess of the 24 hours he had. “This morning, we got up and evacuated.”

Thankfully, Winkler didn’t seem too inconvenienced or shaken up by the incident. In fact, after evacuating from the hotel, he snapped a photo with some of the firefighters on.
“Dublin’s finest does a great job when our hotel is evacuated on our first morning !!!!” he captioned the post.
He also praised Dublin Fire Brigade for being “wonderful” as they rushed to save the day.
“Firemen are some of my favorite human beings,” the actor said. “Firemen and firewomen. They run in when other people are running out.”
A representative for Winkler told PEOPLE, “All is well and he is doing a show tonight in Dublin.”
“It was an amazing adventure right here in Dublin,” Winkler also stated to local news. “I cannot wait to see the rest of Dublin.”
