In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the FBI shared two photos of a person wearing a black shirt and jeans with sunglasses. “We are asking for the public’s help identifying this person of interest in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” the post reads.
The FBI says those who have information about the person of interest should call 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit digital media tips.
According to the Associated Press, the suspect is believed to have jumped off the roof and fled the neighborhood shortly after firing a single shot at Charlie Kirk, who was at Utah Valley University as part of his The American Comeback Tour.
While debating with an attendee, the Turning Point USA founder and a well-known President Trump ally was struck in the neck by the bullet, leading to chaos on the university’s campus.
Although his team was able to rush him to a nearby hospital, President Trump confirmed that Kirk succumbed to his injuries. He was 31 years old.
“He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us,” Trump stated. “Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family.”
He then added, “Charlie, we love you!”
Although the law enforcement had taken two people into custody as persons of interest, both have been released.
