In a sneak clip of her interview with Fox News’ Jesse Watters, Erika stated the public deserves to see “what true evil is.”
“There were cameras all over my husband when he was murdered,” she pointed out. There have been cameras all over my friends and family, mourning.”
Erika also said, “There have been cameras all over me. Analyzing my every move, analyzing my every smile, my every tear. We deserve to have cameras in there.”
Erika Kirk also questioned the reasoning behind the request. “Why not be transparent?” she asked. “There’s nothing to hide. I know there’s not, because I’ve seen what the case is built on. Let everyone seek what true evil is. This is something that could impact a generation and generations to come.”
Days after Charlie Kirk was killed, Erika assumed the role of CEO at Turning Point USA. She also held a public event for those who were mourning her late husband.
A Utah Judge Previously Restricted News Outlets From Showing Charlie Kirk’s Alleged Assassin in Shackles
According to the Utah News Dispatch, Fourth District Judge Tony Graf ruled on Oct. 22 that news outlets may not show the alleged assassin, Tyler Robinson, in shackles. However, Graf declined to issue board media limits, calling attention to the surrounding case “extraordinary.”
Robinson’s legal team further argued that the publicity could threaten his right to a fair trial. They also noted that the trial should be in a closed courtroom “so that the defendant’s appearance is no longer the subject of interest.”
Judge Graf then stated that his current restrictions on the media strike “the proper balance between Mr. Robinson’s right ot a fair proceeding and the public’s right to access and transparency.”
Robinson is currently facing aggravated murder and other charges following the Sept. 10 shooting of Charlie Kirk. The assassination occurred on the campus of Utah Valley University, where Kirk was holding a Turning Point USA event.
Following an hour-long manhunt, Robinson was turned over to law enforcement.
Robinson is scheduled to return ot court for an in-person hearing on Jan. 16.
