Ellen and her wife, Portia de Ross, recently acquired a multi-million-pound estate in the Cotswolds, approximately two hours from London. They are reportedly planning to make it their permanent residence following Donald Trump’s election victory.
The 43-acre property is now submerged after the River Thames overflowed its banks earlier this week, following Storm Bert, per the Daily Mail.
Many roads in the Cotswolds are now impassable, submerged under five feet of water.
Numerous residents find themselves confined to their homes. “The flood waters are rising by the hour. This is the worst I have seen it in years,” one local told the outlet.
Ellen Degeneres’s New U.K. Home Flooding Comes After She Was Spotted at a Local Pub
The news of Ellen DeGeneres’s English farmhouse possibly getting flooded comes after she was spotted out and about in her new hometown. DeGeneres and her wife, ages 66 and 51, respectively, enjoyed a night out at a local pub last month.
In a video shared on The Farmer’s Dog’s Instagram page on November 13th, a band performs as the camera pans to a table. There, the former talk show host, now with brunette hair instead of her usual blonde, is seen smiling.
The video, filmed by UK talk show host and pub owner Jeremy Clarkson’s girlfriend, Lisa Hogan, shows De Rossi sitting next to DeGeneres, who waves at the camera. The clip also features artist Natalie Imbruglia singing along while The Corrs perform an acoustic set.
Meanwhile, a lot has been made about Ellen packing up and ditching the United States.
Throughout the election season, DeGeneres actively supported Harris, contributing $3,300 to her campaign. In August, the comedian publicly endorsed Harris on Instagram, expressing her backing.
A source reportedly close to Ellen DeGeneres told The Wrap that she and Portia de Rossi do not plan to return to the United States, especially if Donald Trump becomes the 47th president.
Still, there might be more to the move than politics.
Reports also suggest DeGeneres and de Rossi purchased their UK home before the election, indicating plans to move regardless of the 2024 Presidential Election outcome.
