Barrymore grilled the actor over some of the odd jobs he worked before becoming a Hollywood regular. Cannavale revealed that at one point, he was a bouncer at a popular New York City nightclub, Limelight.
Upon the revelation, Barrymore revealed that she celebrated her 10th birthday with a party at the night club. And at that point, she had been hitting the club scene for at least three years.
Drew Barrymore Celebrated 10th Birthday at Nightclub
“I went to Limelight, I had my 10th birthday party at Limelight. I had been going to clubs for three years at that point,” Barrymore told the actor.
“Went to Studio 54. I went to Limelight. I went to Nell’s. You name it, I was there.”
Actress Reveals Details About First Production Role
Drew Barrymore was first introduced to the world as a child actor. She appeared on screen in film classics such as E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, Firestarter, and Far From Home. So, it’s not surprising that she was introduced to the nightlife scene at an early age.
The stardom only ballooned as she became more mature. Barrymore starred in the 1999 film Never Been Kissed. The role forced her to defer from her normal “it girl” persona as she played a socially awkward copy editor who has never had a real relationship. Barrymore pulled off the look so well that the producers asked her to tone it down.
“And I would get these calls from the studio and they were like, ‘I’m sorry, but you’re just looking too unattractive. Stop it.’ And I was like, ‘Good.’ And they were like, ‘No, no, no, no, no. It’s too far.’ So I was forced to tone it down a little bit because I had gone even farther than that,” she said.
The pressure to make the film a hit was only further mounted as the production was her first crack in a producer role.
