“I’m a big fan of Beyoncé and very excited that she’s done a country album,” Parton wrote on Instagram. “So congratulations on your Billboard Hot Country number one single.” Beyoncé’s single “Texas Hold ‘Em” premiered at the number one spot on the Hot Country chart.”Can’t wait to hear the full album!”, Parton added.
Of course, the album Dolly’s referring to is Renaissance Act II. It’s set to be released on March 29th. Parton’s statement followed Beyoncé’s announcement that the second segment of her Renaissance album would explore country music. Meanwhile, the first part was centered on dance tracks.
Dolly Parton Has Been Open About Wanting to Collaborate with Beyoncé in the Past
However, Dolly Parton’s interest in Beyoncé may not end with being a fan. She’s hinted in the past that she might like to collaborate with Bey. She even suggested that her hit “Jolene” might be a good fit. “[‘Jolene’] has been recorded worldwide over 400 times in lots of different languages, by lots of different bands,” Parton told The Big Issue in 2020. “The White Stripes did a wonderful job of it, and many other people. But nobody’s ever had a really big hit record on it. I’ve always hoped somebody might do [it] someday, someone like Beyoncé.”
This week, Beyoncé achieved a milestone by debuting on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart with her first two entries. “Texas Hold ‘Em” claimed the top spot, while “16 Carriages” secured the ninth position. In “Texas Hold ‘Em,” she makes history as the first Black woman to reach the number one spot on the Hot Country Songs chart.
The achievements don’t stop there. Beyoncé has etched her name in history by becoming the first woman to reach the summit of both Hot Country Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs since these charts were established as all-encompassing genre song rankings in October 1958.
Both singles were launched on Feb. 11, as revealed in a Verizon advertisement aired during CBS’ broadcast of Super Bowl LVIII, preceding the upcoming album release.
Act II will be Beyoncé’s eighth studio album, aiming to continue her streak of achieving No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Her last seven albums, starting from 2003’s Dangerously in Love to Renaissance in 2022, have all debuted at the top of the charts.
