On October 11, acting superstar Diane Keaton passed away in her California home. The Oscar-winner was 79. Her death is hard news to hear from her many fans, who have enjoyed watching her on their screens for decades.
Her family issued a statement to PEOPLE, which explained her cause of death and explained their gratitude.
It turns out that Diane Keaton died from a sudden case of pneumonia.
“The Keaton family are very grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received these past few days on behalf of their beloved Diane, who passed away from pneumonia on October 11,” the statement read.
Her family continued to talk about their lost loved one. “She loved her animals and she was steadfast in her support of the unhoused community, so any donations in her memory to a local food bank or an animal shelter would be a wonderful and much appreciated tribute to her,” they wrote.
Diane Keaton’s Pneumonia Was Sudden And Unexpected
Diane Keaton’s condition was a shock for her family. Although her health declined through this year, Keaton remained rather quiet about it.
In the wake of Keaton’s death, the same outlet spoke to a friend that described her declining health condition in recent months.
“She declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her,” reportedly said the source. “It was so unexpected, especially for someone with such strength and spirit.”
“In her final months, she was surrounded only by her closest family, who chose to keep things very private. Even longtime friends weren’t fully aware of what was happening,” they continued.
In March, Diane Keaton listed her “dream home” for sale. The move surprised many, which makes considering it’s not likely many knew the extent to which she was suffering.
She moved into her five-bedroom property in 2017, and it’s now worth $29,000,000.
It seems the long-time flipper had one more left in her.
I hope her friends and family receive the strength they need for the coming grief.
