Scott Stapp, the lead singer of Creed, and his wife, Jaclyn, are calling it quits after 18 years. The news of their divorce was broken by TMZ.
A rep for Stapp confirmed the news to PEOPLE via a statement.
“Out of respect for their family, Scott intends to navigate this difficult time privately,” the rep stated.
Another rep stated that the duo did everything they could to save the marriage but it wasn’t salvageable.
“Scott and Jaclyn had determined the marriage was over but continued to try to make it work,” the source said.

Scott (50) and Jaclyn (43) were married on February 11th, 2006. The two first met at a gala for the Muscular Dystrophy Association in New York.
Together they are parents to three children: a daughter named Milan (17) and two sons named Daniel (13) and Anthony (6). Stapp is also the father to a son named Jagger (25), with whom he shares with his ex-wife, Hillaree Burns.
In an interview with PEOPLE in March, Scott Stapp opened up on what his family life was like at home. He also stated that his relationship with his soon-to-be ex-wife was a learning experience.
“Relationships teach you a lot of things. Good and bad. And I’ve learned that no matter how they resolve, or how they continue, that each stage in each season of the relationship is most definitely a learning experience,” Scott stated.
“You have to look back at it as such. No matter what. And you have to reframe it. Reframing it no matter what the circumstance is precipitates growth. And helps you become a better human being and a better partner.”
