“I’m disappointed in myself for letting it escalate to what it did and that’s what I’m apologetic to. The truth of the matter is this: Me, being in my position, I should’ve never put myself in that position. That’s just the truth. That could’ve got ugly, for real,” Newton said.
“I feel like I let them down because I can’t sit up here and say, ‘Hey bro, you have to be bigger than that,’ and then all of a sudden, I do that. That just shows that you have to always stay in control of your emotions.”
Rival Team Sounds Off on Cam Newton Scuffle
In the video, Newton is seen brawling with the other team. Several punches were thrown as multiple men attempted to attack him. But members of the TSP crew, Step and TJ Brown say that it was Newton who was the aggressor in the situation. But the two were apologetic for the melee.
“Just out of nowhere, talking crazy to us for no reason. And as I’m walking up the steps, Cam’s in Steph’s face and he grabbed Steph,” TJ said.
“Like we should have been able to sit down and talk. There’s no reason we should be yelling at each other while a game is going on.”
Analyst Sends Warning to Cam Newton After Altercation
With Cam’s altercation going viral everyone chimed in. Mase co-host of the It is What It Is Podcast noted an interesting perspective on the matter. The issue of safety comes into play when talking about the altercation. Although Newton was able to come away from the scuffle uninjured, the situation had the potential to become dangerous.
“If that happened in Atlanta, that’s very dangerous because everybody’s carrying in Atlanta,” Mase said.
“It’s like, that could have went a lot of different ways. I mean, I’m glad he got out of there safe, I’m glad everybody seemed to be safe. A few hands got exchanged, but it don’t look like nothing too crazy happened. It looked like they were trying to get it going, but they never really got to get it going.”
