Britney Spears revealed to her Instagram followers on Wednesday that she suffers from nerve damage, affecting her ability to think at times.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, the 42-year-old former teen idol shared that many are unaware of the physical toll her body endured during her 13-year conservatorship, which ended in 2021.
“I’m not here to be a victim, I’m here to express that even though I did a book about my experiences, the trauma is still there and probably will always be,'” Spears wrote.
“I portray myself as very together on IG but there are a lot of people who don’t know what my body physically went through!!!”, she added.
She explained the difficulty she faces in forgiving her parents, Lynne and Jamie Spears, whom she accused of causing “serious nerve damage” to the right side of her body.
“I have to be the bigger person and forgive my own parents… but that’s extremely hard!!!” she wrote. “I will do my best to let it go and not let others down by my anger!!!”
However, Britney Spears didn’t dwell on the nerve damage or feeling about her parents for long. Later that day, she returned to Instagram to post a playful video in a white minidress with a peekaboo cutout and cowboy boots.

The announcement of the singer’s nerve damage follows closely on the heels of her recent revelation that she broke her foot during a widely reported incident at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles on May 2.
The “Oops, I Did It Again” singer claimed that she had a fall while dancing inside the Hollywood hotel.
“It’s so bad. F–king idiot here tries to do a leap in the living room of the Chateau, and I fell — embarrassed myself — and that’s it,” Spears said at the time.
Several days later, she let fans know she was walking around on the broken appendage. “Walking on a broken foot,” she wrote on May 12th. “If I go fast, it goes numb!!!”
By May 18th, the pop singer claimed her foot had already mirculously mended.
“Well I was stubborn and did it my way !!!” she said alongside footage of her swelled up foot. “I didn’t listen to a motherf–king soul !! I even wore heels at night and danced with the saints !!!”
