American Idol alumni and Grammy Award winner Mandisa died on April 18. She was 47 years old. Following the announcement of her death, rumors began to spread about the cause of her death.

However, after nearly two months of speculation, the American Idol alum’s cause of death has finally been revealed. Mandisa died due to an unfortunate case of class III obesity.
Mandisa’s Cause of Death Revealed
According to TMZ, who got hold of the autopsy report, the singing sensation was 488 pounds at the time of her passing.
“TMZ obtained a copy of the document which lists Mandisa’s official cause of death as “complications of class III obesity,” with the medical examiner noting she weighed 488 pounds at the time of her death,” TMZ wrote.
“Per the report, the singer’s friends found her in a state of decomposition in her residence on April 18. Emergency medical services arrived at the scene, where she was pronounced dead.”
At the singer’s funeral, Mandisa’s father noted that she had previously experienced complications from COVID-19. He noted that she was trying to “press through” with her recovery.
“She was trying to press through,” he said. “We talked so much on Easter morning, but I thought she was going to this conference, and so I had not called her recently but I’ve talked to her a lot. May she rest in peace now.”
