NBC Philadelphia reported that “fans shot off fireworks, climbed dump trucks and, yes, unscrewed and pulled down traffic posts” after the big game. Not only that, but some fans went even further by pulling towels and sheets out of a nearby box truck and setting them on fire. Police were working to disperse crowds past 1:30 a.m.
The outlet also reported that 29 people were cited for disorderly conduct, including six assaults on police officers. In addition to citations, there were nine total arrests for various charges. Five of those arrests included assault on police.
The other four arrests included one charge for recklessly endangering another person, two charges of aggravated assault and one charge of disorderly conduct.
According to CBS News, there were eight vandalism incidents reported from various locations throughout the city. The incidents included “four on city sanitation department trucks, one at the Santander Bank on Walnut Street, one at the Free People Store on Walnut Street, another at Chase Bank on Walnut Street and one at Brooks Brothers on Walnut Street.”
Barstool Sports even posted a short video on their Instagram account of the mobbed crowds. The clip included several fans carrying around a traffic pole that had been torn down. The caption read, “THEY ARE TAKING THE POLES OFF BROAD STREETÂ @barstoolphilly”
Although there were several acts of vandalism, the School District of Philadelphia still opened at its normal start time on Monday. Crews were also quick to repair the torn-down traffic poles from the night prior.
