Authorities have linked the woman, identified as Michelle Dick, to a March 25 incident in Santa Monica, California, in which a suspect threw an unknown substance at Buckingham as he arrived for an appointment. Police say the suspect fled the scene. They have made no arrests yet in connection with the incident.
Investigators note that Buckingham, 76, was already familiar with Dick due to a history of alleged harassment. In 2024, he obtained a restraining order against her after years of troubling behavior that included repeated phone calls, threats against him and his family, and appearances outside his home.
Lindsay Buckingham Denies Any Relation
In legal documents supporting the restraining order, Buckingham stated that Dick claimed to be his child and demanded money while also blaming him for personal hardships. He firmly denied any relationship, writing that he did not know her and was not her father.
Court records also describe escalating incidents leading up to the restraining order. Dick allegedly contacted Buckingham’s family members repeatedly, left threatening messages, and made a false emergency call that prompted police to respond to his home. Authorities later determined the call was unfounded.
Despite the restraining order, Dick has continued to assert that Buckingham is her birth father. She repeated the claim in recent statements to media outlets, even as law enforcement agencies investigate her potential connection to the latest incident.
Officials say the attack did not injure Buckingham, but they consider the situation serious due to the prior history. The Los Angeles Police Department’s Threat Management Unit is working with Santa Monica police as the investigation continues.
Buckingham, best known for his work with Fleetwood Mac, has not publicly commented in detail on the latest developments. Authorities have not confirmed whether additional charges or actions will follow as they continue to review the case.
