Rapper and mogul Jay-Z is putting Colin Kaepernick back in the conversation, but he allegedly hasn’t got his facts straight.

During his July 10 concert at Yankee Stadium, Jay mentioned Kaepernick and his falling out with the NFL during a freestyle rap, which was caught on video.
“They run out of characters, had to bring back up Kap again. Buddy took a check, I ain’t even mad at him, but along with that check you have to sign a non-disparagement. I’m the one they can’t control,” he said.
The timing of Hov’s comments had people wondering “why now?” Especially because it’s been over half a decade since Kaepernick filed a lawsuit against the NFL. His accusation that teams were colluding to keep him out of the league ended in a settlement in 2019.
But according to TMZ, they have sources who say Kaepernick didn’t sign a non-disparagement agreement.
The sources point out social media posts where Kaepernick openly criticized the league for not hiring him.
“Colin couldn’t post about how many days it’s been since a team hired him,” if he agreed not to say anything bad, a source claims.
The outlet claims that Jay may have brought up Kaepernick because he helped pay for the funeral of Nolan Wells, a Black teen who was found dead in Mississippi, right before the concert.
