In a recent Threads post, Threets confirmed that he is safe. However, his team revealed that he was placed in a 5-day psychiatric hold as he recovers from a mental health incident.
“Mychal apologizes for worrying people, he just returned from a 5-day psychiatric hospital stay,” his team wrote. “He is not okay. It’s going to take a long time, but he has hope he will be okay.”
The team then wrote, “He thanks the doctors, nurses, mental workers for saving his life… he thanks his family and friends, he thanks you. He reminds us it’s okay to need help. He thanks you for being you, for staying. He hopes to see you at the library, to see you tomorrow.”
Threets’ followers took to the comments section to share words of support.
“A gentle, ever so gentle reminder that you owe us nothing,” one follower wrote. “You are enough. And you are not alone. I am just so thankful for every breath you choose to take.”
Another follower wrote, “You don’t owe us an apology. We love you down and we are here. Do what you gotta do. We are so glad you’re here.”
Threets Has Since Returned to Social Media
Over the weekend, Threets returned to his social media accounts to speak out about his mental health struggles.
“There are no right words to express my gratitude for the extraordinary mental health care,” he wrote. “The help I received while on voluntary psychiatric hospital hold. Human empathy, kindness, care.”
Threets then said he was blessed to continue receiving help to journey towards being “ok” through an intensive outpatient program. However, he noted that mental health help is very expensive.
“It should not be,” he pointed out. “We should not have to worry about being able to afford help. This must change. I am worthy of help, you are worthy of help, we are worthy of help.”
Last week, Threets took to his social media outlets and revealed that he was not doing well.
“I am not okay. Maybe I’ll never be okay. I’m seeking help,” he stated.
“No matter what happens to me, I will always be thankful for the extraordinary people in my life who worry,” Threets continued. “Who help me. Thank you for your care. I will always love you.”
