Sydney Sweeney isn’t letting the critics get to her.
The Anyone But You star took to Instagram to hinted her thoughts about the haters in her life while sharing pictures of her recent trip to Mexico. “Good times and tan lines,” she captioned the post.
Among the photos Sydney Sweeney shared included a photo of her wearing a sweatshirt that reads “Sorry for having great tits.” She also had pictures featuring her friends and dog.
Sweeney’s Instagram post comes just days after Hollywood producer Carol Baum made headlines over her negative remarks about the actress.
While speaking to The New York Times, Baum made some scathing remarks about Sydney Sweeney. “She’s not pretty,” Baum said about Sweeney. “She can’t act.”
Baum then said she doesn’t understand the hype about Sydney Sweeney. She also criticized Sweeney’s rom-com Anyone But You. “I watched this unwatchable movie – sorry to people who love this movie – [this] romantic comedy where they hate each other.”
The producer pointed out that she wanted to watch the film so she could understand who Sweeney was and why “everyone” had been talking about her.
Baum was quickly criticized for her remarks, with one fan of Sweeney’s stating it was sad to hear a veteran female film producer making remarks about the actress’ looks.
“Internal misogyny hides in the least likely places,” the fan said. “We don’t owe them pretty, it’s tie to give em UGLY dammit.”
Sydney Sweeney’s Rep Called Out Carol Baum’s ‘Sad’ Comments
In response to Carol Baum’s comments, Sydney Sweeney’s rep stated the remarks were sad.
“How sad that a woman in the position to share her expertise and experience chooses instead to attack another woman,” the rep explained. “If tearing down another woman is what Carol has learned during her decades in the business, and she feels it appropriate to pass that to her students, then that’s truly shameful.”
Sydney Sweeney’s rep continued by stating, “To unjustly disparage a fellow female producer speaks volumes about Ms. Baum’s character.”
Teddy Schwarzman, Sweeney’s former producer who worked with her on Immaculate, also spoke out about Baum’s remarks. He stated that not only is Sweeney one of the most talented actresses he’s worked with, but also incredibly smart, kind, and humble.
“I’m not sure why someone who claims to still be a producer would make such terribly ugly comments,” he called out Baum. “But I can assure everyone that Sydney is at least beautiful on the inside.”
Days after her comments surfaced, Baum told TMZ that she regrets making comments about Sydney Sweeny. She told the media outlet she wished she never would’ve made the comments and that “crapping” on an actress like that isn’t “her style.”
