Steve Buscemi has resurfaced with a visible injury following what was deemed a “random” attack in New York City last Wednesday, May 8.
As previously reported, Buscemi was hospitalized after he was attacked in New York City. The actor was walking in the Kips Bay neighborhood at 11:50 a.m. on Wednesday when he encountered someone wearing a baseball cap, a blue t-shirt, black pants, and a pair of white sneakers. The stranger proceeded to physically assault him. He had a swollen face and left eye and he was transported to Bellevue Hospital for further evaluation.

Days after the attack, Steve Buscemi was back out and about in New York City. TMZ observed that the actor had a noticeable black eye, despite wearing sunglasses.
Buscemi’s team told the media outlet that he was okay and on the mend. However, they also said that such incidents can happen to anyone and everyone in New York City. Even if someone is doing nothing but just walking the city’s streets.
“Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Midtown Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city,” his publicist shared in a statement to The New York Times. “He is okay and appreciates everyone’s well-wishes, though incredibly sad for everyone that this has happened to while also walking the streets of New York.”
More details about Buscemi’s assailant have not been revealed. No arrests have been made as well. The investigation is still ongoing.
Steve Buscemi’s ‘Boardwalk Empire’ Co-Star Michael Stuhlbarg was Assaulted in Central Park Last Month
Meanwhile, Steve Buscemi’s Boardwalk Empire co-star Michael Stuhlbarg was also physically assaulted in New York City’s Central Park last month. He was struck by a rock and reportedly ended up chasing the man, identified as 27-year-old Xavier Israel.
Israel was previously arrested for two assaults and a robbery in Jan. 2022. He was caught on surveillance camera footage beating up and stealing the wallet of a good Samaritan, who had given him a coat. The man, who appears to be homeless, also allegedly assaulted two more victims inside Central Park that same year.
The encounters that Steve Buscemi and Michael Stuhlbarg experienced also come just as multiple people claim that they have been punched by random men while in New York City. A woman was also recently stranged with a belt by a man. This happened at night and the man was accused of sexually assaulting the woman afterward.
