The 110th mayor of New York City requested the now-infamous rapper to return the key after the video of him physically assaulting ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in 2016 went viral. “I think all of us were deeply disturbed by watching that chilling video of the young lady being assaulted by him,” Adams stated at the time, per PEOPLE.
Adams also stated that the “committee and team” have “never rescinded a key before.”
“But we are now sitting down to see what the next steps forward are going to be,” Adams continued. “We are taking everything under analysis, and the team will come back to me with final determination.”
According to NBC News, the mayor sent a letter to Sean “Diddy” Combs asking for the key back. He noted that he was “deeply disturbed” by the footage.
“I strongly condemn these actions and stand in solidarity with all survivors of domestic and gender-based violence,” Adams stated. “Our city has worked tirelessly to make sure survivors are heard and seen by our administration.”
The letter was sent to addresses for Diddy in both Los Angeles and New York City on June 4. The key was returned six days later.
Meanwhile, Sean “Diddy” Combs continues to struggle with legal woes, with multiple civil lawsuits being filed against him over the past few months. Since Nov. 2023, he has been hit with five lawsuits in New York. Combs is accused of sexual assault, sexual trafficking, and other criminal activities.
Ventura was the first person to file a lawsuit against him, claiming assault and rape. However, her lawsuit was settled the day after it was filed. At the time, Combs “Vehemently” denied the allegations.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ Former Bodyguard Claims He Broke Up Fights Between the Rapper and Cassie Ventura
Meanwhile, a former bodyguard of Sean “Diddy” Combs claimed he had broken up multiple fights between the rapper and Cassie Ventura throughout the years.
Roger Bonds, who reportedly worked for Diddy more than a decade ago, stated that while he didn’t witness extensive fights between Combs and Ventura, he did have to step in during some heated arguments.
Bonds recalled one time Ventura punched Diddy. “Her and Puff was fighting, and I broke it up again. I put Puff in the front seat, and I put Cassie in the backseat. He was just sitting there, and I was like, ‘Yo, y’all can’t be acting up like this, man.’ Then Cassie had punched him in the face, rightfully. She punched him in the face, and they started fighting.”
Bonds also said that multiple arrived amid the physical situation. “People started pulling up [, saying] ‘Oh shit, that’s Diddy and Cassie in there fighting.’ And I’m trying to roll the window up at the same time. So, in my mind, I was happy because I actually [saw] her fight back. … And then when we got to the house, I pulled both of them out.”
Bonds further explained that he was able to grab Sean “Diddy” Combs and walk him in the hallway to get away from the chaos. “We lived in Beverly Hills, so I started walking him up the hill. And then Cassie ran behind me, and she kicked him. When he went to chase her, I grabbed him again, and I was able to stop it.”
