Royal expert Tom Quinn shared with The Mirror that the prince really misses the “warm, uncomplicated relationship” he had with Middleton.
“He is torn between loyalty to his wife and regret about the loss of the woman he was so close to,” Quinn said. He also said that losing Kate Middleton was Prince Harry’s second great loss after losing his mother, Princess Diana.
Following the news that Kate Middleton was diagnosed with cancer, Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle released an official statement. “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family,” they shared. “And hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”
Prince Harry hasn’t been on speaking terms with Middleton and his brother Prince William since he and Markle stepped down from their royal duties in 2020. The couple has since moved to America with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Prince Harry Detailed Start of Fallout With Kate Middleton in Memoir ‘Spare’
Prince Harry previously opened up about the relationship between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle. In his memoir, Spare, Harry revealed a personal text message exchange about a disagreement over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress.
Prince Harry stated Middleton had complained to Markle that the dress did not fit correctly. “Charlotte’s dress is too big, too long, too baggy,” Middleton texted. “She cried when she tried it on at home.”
Although she told Middleton that there was a tailor on standby to help with the dress alterations, the conversation allegedly left Markle “sobbing on the floor.”
Tom Quinn spoke about the relationship between Middleton and Markle. “Megan doesn’t feel guilty about Kate,” the royal expert shared. “Because she feels that Kate should’ve been the one person in the Royal family to back her against every difficulty.”
Quinn noted that Markle knew that Middleton was an outsider like her. She also knew that Middleton was one of the few who understood the struggles of adjusting to royal life. “She just couldn’t understand why Kate always towed the Royal line rather than supporting her, Megan, the other outsider.”
The royal expert further pointed out that Middleton’s cancer diagnosis has been a “real shock” for Markle. However, she doesn’t feel the relationship between the two can be amended.
“She can see no way to patch up the relationship simply because it has become so poisonous,” Quinn added. “She also doesn’t want people saying that she is trying to make things up with Kate just because Kate is ill. Kate still feels Kate was in the wrong and should apologize before they try to build bridges.”
