The King is still miffed with Prince Harry, and the royal rift runs deeper than a Shakespearean drama—according to a palace insider.

Author Christopher Andersen contends that Prince Harry’s public remarks about Queen Camilla deserve more attention than they currently receive. Andersen, who penned the biography The King about King Charles III, asserts that the king views Harry’s criticisms of the queen consort as “unforgivable.”
“I think people have to realize that the one thing that Charles finds unforgivable is criticism of Camilla,” Andersen told Fox News. “There’s no criticism of Camilla. And unfortunately for Harry… Harry said some pretty devastating things about her.”
Andersen referred to the prince’s memoir, Spare, and several related interviews in which the prince criticized Queen Camilla’s handling of the British press.
“[Prince Harry] made it clear that he felt she was… the villain in the piece,” Andersen explained. “I think that still bothers the king, and I don’t know that it will be easy for him to [forgive]. I don’t think they’ll ever forgive Harry for that. [He’s] on his own.”
Prince Harry Had No Problem Dragging Queen Camilla in Public
The prince vowed to spill the tea with Spare, and he didn’t waste any time throwing shade at his own family. He accused Queen Camilla of leaking private conversations to the media to gain favorable coverage and shift public perception away from her history of infidelity.
The allegations concerning Camilla were delicate due to her role in the dissolution of Charles’ marriage to Princess Diana, Harry’s mother. Initially shunned for her affair with Charles, Camilla was once described by Diana as the third person in their marriage. Despite this, she has gained public favor through her charitable activities and has helped Charles seem more relatable to modern Britain.
The prince, now 39, has rarely seen his father since stepping down from royal duties in 2020 and relocating to California with his wife, Meghan Markle. They cited intolerable intrusions and the British media’s racist attitudes as their reasons for the move.
Meanwhile, Andersen also suggested that deeper personal issues also exist between Queen Camilla and the king’s sons.
“We have to remember, he promised he would never make Camilla queen,” Andersen pointed out. “And I think that’s one thing that still bothers both Harry and William. It’s unfortunate that Charles… promised he would never make Camilla queen. [He felt] that the way the people felt about Diana, they would never allow him to crown her by his side. But that’s exactly what he did. So, in that sense, I think both William and Harry feel a sense of betrayal to this day on that issue.”
