The Princess of Wales, who revealed in January that her cancer is in remission after chemotherapy treatments, posted a picture of herself to mark the special day.
In the photo, she is smiling in the woods, arm spread wide. The most special detail, however, is that the photo was taken by her 6-year-old son, Prince Louis.
“Don’t forget to nurture all that which lies beyond the disease. #WorldCancerDay,” Kate captioned the moving shot.
Kate stepped back from public life in 2024 after announcing that she was undergoing chemotherapy treatments amid a battle with cancer.
After the January announcement that her cancer is in remission, she has returned to public life and resumed her work with the Royal Foundation. She recently wrote a moving foreword for The Shaping Us Framework, a study released by the Royal Foundation’s Centre for Early Childhood.
“We must invest in humankind,” she urges. “As human beings, we are at our best when we are surrounded by love, safety, and security. We thrive when we are connected to one another; when we feel like we belong, feel seen, heard and accepted for who we are.”

In addition to her continued work with early childhood development, Kate has also joined William as a patron of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. She announced the news by sharing her “heartfelt” thanks to the organization for “looking after me so well during the past year.”
“We couldn’t have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional,” she wrote in a social media message.
“In my new role as Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden, my hope is, that by supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer,” she continued.
“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery,” Kate concluded. “As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”
