Lopez and Damon were seen having a deep conversation while at the Unstoppable afterparty. The film, which Lopez starred in, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festive (TIFF). Damon also co-produced the film with Lopez.
An insider told People that Jennifer Lopez and Matt Damon were sitting at a table together with Damon’s wife Luciana and Unstoppable oco-star Don Cheadle.
“Jen and Matt began talking and had a long, deep conversation,” the source says. They added that Lopez and Damon laughed and spoke more seriously for several minutes. They also held hands as they spoke.
Unstoppable is the biopic of wrestler Anthony Robles. He was born with one leg and eventually won an NCAA national championship in 2011. The film was produced by Affleck and Damon’s production company, Artists Equity. Lopez portrayed Robles’ mother, Judy, in the film.
“I think it was my job really to help her feel safe,” Lopez said during the Q&A session. “Both of them, Anthony and Judy, to feel safe and kind of put this in our hands and trust us with all the information that they could give us and know that we wouldn’t misuse it in any way, but only use it to tell their story in the best and most beautiful way that it deserved.”
Lopez explained, “Because it is one of the most beautiful, most inspiring stories I think I’ve ever seen on screen.”
The premiere marked Lopez’s first major public appearance since she filed for divorce from Affleck.
Matt Damon Said It Was ‘Painful’ to Be Friends With Ben Affleck While He Was Dating Jennifer Lopez
During a 2017 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Matt Damon opened up about his friendship with Ben Affleck, noting it was painful to be friends with the fellow actor while he was dating Jennifer Lopez in the early 2000s.
“Ten years ago, the public image of him could not have been farther apart from who he actually is,” Damon said. “It was like he was being cast in a role, that he was a talentless kind of meathead, with his whole relationship with Jennifer Lopez.”
Damon continued by pointing out that Affleck got cast as this person that he wasn’t. “It was just really painful. It was painful to be his friend, because it wasn’t fair, you know? To my mind, nobody really got him at all.”
Damon went onto praise Affleck for his hard work through the years. “Through his work, he climbed from the bottom of the mountain all the way back up on the top.”
