Just after Harvey Weinstein’s New York rape conviction was overturned, the disgraced film producer’s attorney has confirmed he is hospitalized with “train wreck” health.
Arthur Aidala told TMZ that his client Weinstein is currently at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan after doctors at Rikers Island examined him. Per the appeal ruling, Weinstein was transferred to Rikers from an upstate New York prison.
Harvey Weinstein was then sent to Bellevue to have more tests done. Aidala described his client’s health as being a “train wreck.” The attorney further pointed out that he has spoken to Weinstein since his release from an upstate New York prison.
Aidala confirmed that his client is in “good spirits” and happy with his medical care. Although Aidada did not disclose what health issues led to Weinstein’s hospitalization, TMZ reports that the former producer’s health struggles are documented.
It was reported that Weinstein has continuously struggled with various health issues. This includes cardiac arrest, diabetes, sleep apnea, and eye problems.
Although his New York conviction has been overturned, Harvey Weinstein continues to remain in custody. This is due to the ruling not impacting Weinstein’s current conviction in Los Angeles, which has him serving a 16-year prison sentence.
A New York City Department of Corrections spokesperson told AP that Weinstein is to remain in custody while at Bellevue.
Rose McGowan Speaks Out About Harvey Weinstein’s New York Conviction Overturn
Refusing to hold back her thoughts, Rose McGowan quickly spoke out about the overturn of Harvey Weinstein’s New York conviction.
McGowan is notably one of Weinstein’s most well-known and outspoken victims. In a video, McGowen stated that while the New York Court of Appeals may have overturned the conviction, she and the others terrorized by Weinstein will not be “erased.”
“No matter what they overturn, they cannot take away who we are,” McGowan declared. “What we know, what we’ve gone through, and what we can achieve in this life.”
“We are not victims. We are people that were injured by evil. And the evil sticks together, as witnesses and evidence today, but we are better.”
The Charmed star then encouraged others to remain strong. “Tomorrow, we will rise, stand up, dust ourselves off, and look for every little ounce of joy and beauty in this world that we can.”
McGowan accused Harvey Weinstein of sexually assaulting her in 1997. She shared specific details about the incident in her memoir Brave.
